JONATHAN DE VILLIERS | PHOTOGRAPHY

I stumbled across Jonathan de Villiers work via Black Harbor tonight. I love the frozen moments and his careful use of broad lighting and fill. The images remind me of the illustrations commonly found in vintage magazines or how to guides except their exceptionally edited and composed. His use of strong colors, especially black backgrounds are striking and inspiring and make his editorial coverage look more like carefully art directed commercial work.

LONDON BUS TOUR | MORITZ OBERHOLZER

Riding a bus, one of my most favorite places to space off and watch humanity, is eloquently paired with Ratatat. Thanks to Moritz Oberholzer for sharing your vision and Smashbox for posting on their blog.

9/11 | SITE TIME LAPSE

Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11. A lot has changed, for better or worse since then and I'm not going to add any commentary. I do want to bring attention to what has happened to the site where the towers used to stand and reflect on the day I ascended the stairs from the subway to accidentally stumble upon the site and that eerie tingle that rose up my spine reminding me that I wasn't alone at this place.

AGNES MONTGOMERY | COLLAGES

I have been really inspired by collages recently and though I've know Agnes Montgomery's work for a while I've become re-aquianted with her work and went back through her site today to familiarize myself with her art. I think she's most widely known for her work with Panda Bear (how I was introduced at least) but all of her work is truly captivating. Montgomery is from Philadelphia, hand cuts all of her work from found pieces, scans and prints on canvas for exhibits. Her truly beautiful work has inspired a new push of work of my own... and more to come on brandonjosephbaker.com
